For years before his death, Sudarso was struggling with his health. At times he was not his lucid self. In this painting there are five visiable fingers on the right hand, plus the thumb which is bent out of view. I find it thrilling that the master of perfect hands made a six fingered old man. This painting has a special energy of warmth about it. Wonderful!
