Gono ‘Famous Cive Door’
Oil on Canvas 1994 62 * 51 inches
Private Collection Ingrid Quell, Germany
One of my all time favorite Sudargono paintings. I find it so fun and invigorating to have a world class painter immortalize the rubber ducky. I can hear Ernie from Sesame Street singing every time I see this painting; “Rubber ducky, your the one… you make bath time so much fun…” When I first saw ‘Famous Cive Door’ it was already sold but not yet shipped. The buyer had called Gono and asked him on what he was working. When he described the current painting she bought it sight unseen! More of us art ‘patrons’ should be so bold.

Bambang Wiwoho was born in 1959 in Semarang, Java. In the 1980’s he was a student of Dullah. Currently, he lives in Denpasar, Bali, where he works in both acrylic and oil on canvas. Bambang paints using broad brush strokes ‘en plein air’ and alla prima. He likes to paint the wild beauty of Bali that he finds hidden in the city of Denpasar.

Jesse Miller and I grew up going to the same schools with our paths continually crossing. It was not until we were both out of high school that we really became friends. At this time he was working professionally as a commercial artist.
One Valentines’ Day my girlfriend wanted to fight when I had plans for a romantic day and evening. Thus, I told her, “We’re finished!” Immediately, I called Jesse and asked him to be my replacement Valentine. Six weeks earlier I had purchased tickets to the Van Gogh exhibit at the LACMA (for Valentines’ Day) and I figured Jesse, being an artist, might enjoy the show.
We were both amazed and inspired with Vincent’s work, and while driving home I asked, “Jesse, why don’t you paint canvas?” He replied that he had always wanted to, and had told many friends over the years, that if someone bought him canvas and some other materials, he would gladly paint for them. Next stop art supply shop! We bought him 2 medium and one large pre-stretched canvas. Also we got a 50 foot roll of canvas, so he could begin making his own shapes and sizes.
The rest is history. Now Jesse has turned a life of art into more than a decade of beautiful canvas with the best still to come!

For six decades Jason Monet has been crafting his vibrant and honest view of the world onto canvas. Since studying art in England, Jason has painted while living all over the world including Malta and Australia.
For the past 20 years he has lived on the Island of Bali, Indonesia where he lives as strongly as he paints.
Upon first glance one may draw comparisons to the great impressionist and post-impressionist painters or the expressionist movement. Soon after that first glance it becomes very apparent that Jason Monet has an individualistic style that is clearly his own.
He never paints from portraits or finishes paintings in the studio. Everything is strictly ‘en plein air’ and alla prima.
While painting, Jason is a swift whirlwind of personalities and paint as he races time to capture the light and the “moment.” His portraits are full of structure and mood highlighted with an array of colors and energy.
From the distance his paintings have tremendous life movement. It is as if one is staring at a brief video loop of a “moment,” where most paintings are a snapshot from the artist eye/mind. Up close to a Jason Monet painting the sourse of this movement and energy is found. He paints with pure confidence in thick bold strokes that nearly blur together, just like a 3-D photo held to closely to the face.

I first met Jason Monet in December of 2000. Everywhere I turned for four straight days there was Jason and 2-3 of his beautiful daughters.
On the fourth day Jason and all four daughters dragged me out dancing after meeting at an art/cocktail party in Ubud, Bali. We had a beer and danced briefly before they left. Moments later, the youngest, Simone returned with an invitation for Christmas dinner.
Over the following weeks I became well acquainted with the family and I had bought my first two Jason Monet originals. Shortly after, I sold my first Monet, a beautiful yellow Balinese fishing boat painted in Padang Bai, East Bali, January 2001.
