Jason Monet ‘Emi’
Oil on Canvas 19 * 27 inches
Emi is just stunning! I love her big dark eyes that haunt me as her pouty lips seem to say something with only a perk, never opening. Her beautiful hair tossels down with dark purple and burgandy highlights. The cheek bones are drastic. This is a common signature on Jason’s portraits. Notice the leave hovering to the left of her head. It creates a perfect balance with the lovely flower in her hair.

Ink on Recycled Paper

Do you know who this one is??? Some painters need the model to lie perfectly still.
In this instance the guitar player was jamming and taping his foot during the entire painting. Jason was ‘Jamming’ right back on a home made bamboo pen and ink well.

Jason Monet ‘Self Portrait’
Oil on Canvas 19 * 27 inches
Jason Monet’s portraits are his signature work. Unlike any other painter he captures the mood and energy of the model with absurd colors and intensly structured facial features. On his own portraits he is equally honest. He sees the lines and contours missed, and colores these in an aray of colors not usually associated with skin. In his face and beard I count over 10 colors ranging from blue, black and grey to orange, purple and pink. There is something frighteningly honesty in his portraits. Yet, all the while an innocent beauty in his ability to capture the essence.

Jason Monet ‘Orange Canopy Boat’
Oil on Canvas 35 * 43 inches
This one is a collectors piece! Usually, when Jason Monet paints boats in East Bali he is painting the front or side view in order to show the billfish-type nose on the bow of the boats. This one is painted from behind. Also, it has the orange sun canopy above the main section of the boat. The vibrent colors of canopy and boat seem to frame the fisherman in the arch of the pontoon. Behind the boat the first hunter green tree dances to life with forms and faces.

Jason Monet ‘East Bali Boat’

Painters choose this one as their favorite. What more can be said ones peers choose to respect something? Beautiful!

Jason Monet ‘Power Boat’
Oil on Paper 26 * 31 inches
Private Collection Newport Beach, CA
Another beautiful creation! On this piece there are numerous colors hiddin in the hull of the boat and in the water to the right of the boat. It takes time, lighting and paitence to see all this piece has to offer. The boat seems to come right through the glass and into the room.

Jason Monet ‘Padang Bai Boat’ January ’01
Oil on Canvas 19 * 27 inches
Private Collection Newport Beach, CA
This was painted the day after my first painting experience with Jason Monet. He painted this in the main cove of Padang Bai. During its painting he was exclaiming, “I found the colors…finally I found the colors I have been looking for.” Shortly after it became the first painting I sold. Jason is most famous for his painting of Balinese Fishing boats and I do think that this is his best yet.

Jason Monet ‘Blue Lagoon’ January ’01
Oil on Canvas 36 * 45 inches
John Lewis Newport Beach, CA
This was my first love of Jason Monet. I went to Padang Bai’s Blue Lagoon with Jason and his four daughters on this day and I can still hear the afternoon in my mind as I look at it. Jason and I carried his gear over the hill to the lagoon and then he painted while the rest of us frolliced in the sand and water. The ocean reminds me of something that Van Gogh would have painted if he were in Bali. One day after he painted it I purchased this painting. It has proven to be quite a good investment as I am sure your Jason Monet purchase will be as well.

Jason Monet ‘Amed Sunset’ July ’03
Oil on Canvas 36 * 45 inches
Possiably my favorite painting ever by any painter. This is pure Jason Monet. Beautiful colors in the sea and sky, makes one wonder how someone could really see such a site. The truth is Jason only paints what he sees. Textures in the sun and reflection remind me of the boldness of Van Gogh. No question this is the premire collection piece in Jason Monet’s work. It truley represents everything he is as a painter; bold, colorfull, original and daring.
